Animal Testing

Dear Editor of The New York Times,

My name is Vincent Gao and I am in 5th grade. I have some suggestions about animal testing. I am against animal testing.

Look at it this way, if you were the animal that was going to be tested how would you feel? Scientists are doing many horrible things to animals that you can hardly imagine. Over 100 million animals are being tested annually and many of them are brutally killed.

There are a few other ways to test products or medications. You could use computer technology instead of animals which is called “Structure activity relationship otherwise known as SAR”.

I get your point of “Would you rather have an animal die or your Mom, Dad, or any other sibling”. But it doesn’t always have to be a person like you can use cloned animals or animals that are nuisance and are so numerous such as flies.

My main point is there other ways to test products. And animal testing is very cruel.

Sincerely,

Vincent Gao
